We have been at it for a long time now. Everyone is arguing about how to end the fighting in Iraq, and Afghanistan. I have seen many good things and many things that have caused me grief. I have seen lots of support and prayer for the soldiers which is absolutely necessary, but there is one thing I have not seen.
One thing that Jesus commanded us to do as His followers. I have looked at prayer sights and tried to find it in the past. Perhaps now I pray it has happened more often, but just in case I wanted to share this message.
Are you praying for your enemies? Are you blessing those who curse you? Are you pressing in to the throne of Heaven for the souls of those who bayonet and shoot both manikins and real people who bare the cross? The enemy who needs no prayer satan is using them as fodder, as pawns in his wicked plans and schemes. He is literally throwing Muslims at Christians, and each other to their deaths and condemnation. They are just pawns in his hands. They need Jesus!! Osama bin-Ladin needs Jesus. Are you praying for him?
I believe that each time we pray for our troops, we need to also pray for their enemies. The anger in their hearts is from the pit of hell, and only the Love and Truth of Jesus Christ will drive it out.
Those troops are out there risking their lives for us all!! And just imagine how if you pray for their enemy who is attacking them (attacking us all in reality) that God would change their heart. That the none sense of the enemies tactics which lead only to death starts to sink in because we prayed that the devil would no longer be allowed to use them as he has been. Just imagine how many guns and bombs would no longer be used.
This is a spiritual war as a famous Christian General said at the beginning before he was removed for saying so. This is a spiritual war and it can be one. But we must be on God’s side.
Abraham Lincoln had a reporter as him. “Do you think that God is on our side?” President Lincoln responded by saying, “I am not concerned about weather He is on our side. I am more concerned about weather we are on His side.” (a direct quote could not be varified for this on my part, but I have read it before.)
Are we on His side? Are we standing on the unmoving truths of the Bible that commands us not to be afraid. To have a love so great as to love our enemies.
Have you read the Hiding Place? Corrie Ten Boom saw her sister show a strange love and compassion for the Nazi guards at the concentration camp even till the day she died. This love was carried on in to Corrie Ten Boom’s life and she worked to minister to the ex-Nazi guards after the war as well as those fellow prisoners of the Nazis.
Are you willing to show that kind of love? If you aren’t, or can’t. Don’t be ashamed. It is quite natural. God by all means and nor do I believe that we are to ‘tolerate’ their differences as the world commands us Christians to tolerate their sins. There will be a day of truth and reckoning coming to the murderers of this world. And we know what the world claims is a lie and an oxymoron, but that there is such a thing as absolute truth. And we know that in the end times Jesus won’t be the gentle lamb He was 2,000 years ago, but will come as the Lion to judge.
While we have breath there is hope for salvation. While we have this time before Jesus comes there is a chance even for the terrorist to find the truth of God’s love.
I know that forgiving is difficult. I know that praying for your enemy goes against all the natural grains of our beings but it is by God’s power that we can do this. And it is by Gods power that this war can be won.
They need Jesus. They need our prayers. Our prayers do work because we can approach the Throne of heaven through the acceptance given by the blood of Jesus.
Jonah 1:6 captures the heart cry of the world to us who can approach the true Living God. “So the captain appraoched him and said, “How is it that you are sleeping? Get up, call on your god. Perhaps your god will be concerned about us so that we will not perish.” Consider Jonah’s calling. He was called to witness to and save the lives of the greatest enemy of Israel. And please pray that we Christians who have the Holy Spirit and the forgiveness of Jesus in our hearts today can do better than this prophet of God.
So my challenge for you is this. Pray for both. As often as you pray for our troops, pray for our enemies. And I believe you will see this war end so quickly the world will wonder at what happened for years to come.
God bless you!!
